The Canaan Maine Fire Department is Actively Seeking Volunteers
Canaan is a quiet suburban town located between Skowhegan and Pittsfield in Somerset County. The town’s makeup is a combination of residential, agricultural and small businesses with a population of around 2,300 and is rapidly growing.
There are two lakes, Sibley and Lake George, for those that enjoy Maine’s waters. We offer our residents the best of both worlds, a gateway to natural beauty and the opportunity to grow a business within a community of support.
This website contains useful information related to town operations, services, fees, meetings, points of interest, and local events. We also have links to the state, county and other relevant websites.
Click below for the list of what you can bring to the Bulky & Universal Waste Collection Weekend being held June 20 and 21.
The Town Office is back to regular business hours! The door is still locked, because we are only allowing two people in at a time. If you need to do a transaction, just come to the door and knock, and we will let you in.
The Library is also back to regular business hours, allowing only five people in at a time. There will be no meetings or events until further notice.
The Waste Collection Weekend is going to be rescheduled to a later date which has yet to be determined.
